June 12 • Bible reading from 1 Corinthians 12:12-18 The Church
Belief: "The church is God’s primary way to accomplish his purposes on earth."

Text:
The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. For we were all baptised by one Spirit into one
body--whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free--and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.
Now the body is not made up of one part but of many. If the foot should say, "Because I am not
a hand, I do not belong to the body," it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body.
And if the ear should say, "Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body," it would not
for that reason cease to be part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the
sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
But in fact God has arranged the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them
to be.

Day 31: The Church
June 11 • Bible reading from Ephesians 4:11-16 The Church
Belief: "The church is God’s primary way to accomplish his purposes on earth."

Text:
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some
to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of
Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of
God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fulness of Christ. Then we will
no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

Hi there - if you're reading this, then you've found your way through the tangled web to the blog site for "Followers of the Way." We warmly welcome you to the 'online' part of our church's growth journey in Christ. If you don't yet have a booklet (either "Blueprint" for morning churchers OR "Godcast" for night churchers) then please get in touch with our church office to secure your copy. All of the daily readings for the "Followers" program are contained in that booklet (along with lots more) to allow you to journal your comments and lessons as you learn them.
IMPORTANT: The actual READINGS for Followers of the Way will not be posted until Monday May 12th - and then every day until the reading period is over.
This Blog is a duplication of that, which we know some of you will prefer. You can start reading and selecting any readings you wish from the site - just click on the heading of the "post" (entry).
This can be handy if you want to send a reading by email to someone you know: just select the envelope icon under the reading entry, and you can enter their email address & it will be sent for you.
